Venkat Bahl adds depth to key business function, bringing strategic and product marketing focus
San Jose, CA, December 13, 2005
Following on from yesterday’s announcement of adding Gene Jakubowski as Vice President of Sales, Discera (www.discera.com) an analog fabless semiconductor company, and industry leader in CMOS MEMS technology, today announced the addition of Venkat Bahl to its management team, effective immediately. Mr. Bahl will report to Tom Willey, Chief Executive Officer and President of Discera. Mr. Bahl will be responsible for Discera’s product direction, identifying key strategic markets, and developing partner relationships. The position is new.
“Discera is committed to adding the required business momentum to the strong technical foundation and heritage of innovation,” said Mr. Willey. “We are pleased to welcome Venkat to the management team, to further round out the business functions and bring to bear his experience of marketing new technologies and products. Venkat’s profile of successfully introducing new products and technologies to markets is an ideal fit with Discera’s needs.”
Mr. Bahl has 10 years of experience in semiconductor and wireless communications systems experience in both the US and international markets. Bahl is credited with being the father of ZigBee, a low power wireless mesh networking protocol. Bahl comes to Discera after 2 years as the vice president of marketing at Ember, a fabless semiconductor company based in Boston, where he created the company position as a leader of the ZigBee market, and set product direction from a software focus to a full systems focus including hardware and tools. Prior to that, Bahl held marketing and engineering management positions at Philips Semiconductor and VLSI Technology Inc.
“Discera has many innovations that are poised to disrupt the status quo of the timing control market,” said Mr. Bahl. “With the ability to integrate resonators into CMOS circuits, the roadmap options and partnership possibilities available to Discera are very exciting."
