Discera’s initial products are miniaturized clock, PLL, and other frequency synthesizer products for form factor challenged applications. Discera’s products uniquely address the miniaturization requirements of digital consumer products and other mobile applications.


PRODUCT LINEUP

PureSilicon Oscillators – The next step in integration
Current frequency control and timing products in the market are based on the use of resonators made of non-silicon materials such as Quartz crystal, Ceramic, and SAW. As ICs continue to shrink these non-Silicon resonators don’t obey the same Moore’s Law and ultimately restrict the ability to reduce the size and cost of modern clock and timing functions. In comparison, Discera’s products are made exclusively in a CMOS silicon process, are much smaller and easier to integrate.

In addition Quartz crystal, Ceramic, and SAW devices are produced through a fairly labor intensive process where each device has to be finely tuned compared with Discera’s approach of fabricating, at one time, large batches of devices using the manufacturing capabilities of modern CMOS semiconductor fabrication facilities. Discera’s approach yields a large number of devices manufactured at a much lower cost.

Packaging – Providing the industry’s smallest and most flexible packaging
Today’s Quartz Crystal, Ceramic, and SAW devices are packaged in either ceramic or plastic cavity packaging. Today’s electronic products have increasingly demanding requirements to achieve the smallest form factors, and lowest cost. Discera’s packaging technology allows for the use of industry standard, low cost molded plastic packaging that delivers the smallest oscillator devices to the market while staying compatible with industry standard packaging footprints. Custom form factors to further reduce standard footprints, and package level integration can be developed on demand.

Lowest Jitter - Applying innovative circuit techniques
The Company’s products achieve much lower jitter than current programmable products in the market. Discera blends innovative circuitry with its unique PureSilicon Resonator technology to achieve an unprecedented level of performance. Not only do its products satisfy customers’ application requirements but Discera’s technology also competes with the performance of traditional single frequency Quartz crystal based devices.

Extended Temperature range - Linear temperature characteristics
Although Discera’s current generation oscillator products are specified to operate across industry standard temperature range requirements (-20oC to +70oC, and -40oC to +85oC), its PureSilicon Resonator technology exhibits more linear characteristics than Quartz crystal across a much wider temperature range. Future products will include larger temperature range options and target much tougher environments.
