Tom Willey - President and Chief Executive Officer
Tom is an experienced CEO and General Manager who spent the last 15 years growing successful businesses within the communications and wireless semiconductor marketplace.

Tom’s recent accomplishments include doubling Philips Semiconductors TDMA/CDMA Cellular chip business to $270M and developing and executing a complete “chips through handset” CDMA customer solution strategy that enabled the successful penetration of the fast growing local manufacturing Chinese cellular handset market.

Most recently, Tom was President & CEO of Innovics Wireless where he successfully developed and delivered the industry's first WCDMA data PC card using Innovics’ internally developed baseband 3G-modem chip.

Tom has successfully managed all aspects of the semiconductor business cycle from product strategy and vision, product development through customer design wins and order fulfillment. Previous posts include President and CEO at Innovics Wireless, Vice President and General Manager at both Philips Semiconductors and VLSI and senior positions at National Semiconductor and Hewlett Packard.
Venkat Bahl - Vice President, Sales & Marketing
As Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Venkat is responsible for setting Discera's corporate positioning, product direction, identifying key strategic markets, and developing partner relations. His background includes deep semiconductor and wireless communications systems experience in both the US and international markets where he spearheaded CDMA (code division multiple access) adoption in China.

Venkat is credited with helping start, and establish ZigBee, a low power wireless mesh networking protocol and he is the vice chairman of the ZigBee Alliance.

Venkat comes to Discera after two years as the vice president of marketing at Ember, a fabless semiconductor company based in Boston, where he created the company position as a leader of the ZigBee market, and set product direction from a software focus to a full systems focus including hardware and tools. Prior to that, Venkat held marketing and engineering management positions at Philips Semiconductor and VLSI Technology Inc.

He holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Loyola College in Chennai, India, and has done graduate work at Rice University in Houston and Santa Clara.

Wan-Thai Hsu - Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Hsu is one of the pioneer researchers and inventors in the area of silicon and metal resonators. Part of his doctoral work led to the birth of Discera Inc. in 2001.

Since 2001, he has built a strong technical team at Discera focusing on making silicon resonator oscillators a reliable commercial product. The efforts include robust resonator design, manufacturing process development, MEMS reliability, technology transfer to foundries, product developments for silicon resonator oscillators, and IP development.

He is now leading Discera’s R&D team on resonator, filter, packaging, and system developments. He also serves as a principal investigator for multiple government-supported research programs on MEMS filters, system integration and MEMS reliability.

Dr. Hsu received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from National Tsing-Hua University and Ph.D. from University of Michigan, all in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Hsu has published tens of technical papers and spoken at multiple international conferences. He owns five US patents. Dr. Hsu was born in Taipei, Taiwan.

Richard Morley - Vice President, Operations and Quality
Richard Morley entered the IC industry in 1978 with a BS from Manhattan College. The first thirteen years of Richard’s career were spent in various process, development, integration, engineering, and general management roles in the IDM space.  Richard worked for companies including GI, RCA, VLSI, and Zilog.  Richard completed this portion of his career with a tenure running the production wafer fabs and designing and building a sub-micron 200mm fab for Zilog. The last fifteen years of Richard’s career has been spend at the GM level in the Fabless space working for such companies including Kopin, Paradigm, and his own consulting company, OPS-CON which provided contract COO and VP Operations services to the Fabless space.  Richard joined Emosyn prior to it’s acquisition by SST as the Vice President of Operations and Quality in 2003 and has remained with SST until September 2007 as the VP and GM for the Smart Card IC Business.

Mark Brine - Vice President of Finance
Mark Brine manages all aspects of accounting, finance, human resources and facilities including business planning, implementing controls and procedures, tax planning and compliance; audits; debt and equity financing.   He has previously  held the position of Vice President of Finance at two startups - Packet Design and TeleCruz Technology.  Mark started his career at VLSI Technology.  During his 13 years at VLSI Technology, Mark worked in various areas of finance including controller positions in Wireless product and manufacturing.  Mark also managed product development and marketing for a division of VLSI Technology.
